8 months – California dreamin’

What an exciting month this was for Aubrey. She took her first plane ride…all the way to San Francisco. Larry had a conference to attend for work, so Aubrey and I stowed away. It was so special to have all of our friends meet the little munchkin. She did all the fun touristy things…visited the Golden Gate Bridge, rode on a cable car, she even went wine tasting in Napa. (Well not tasting so much as watching)

Other fun stuff this month:

- Our little leprechaun celebrated her first St. Patrick’s Day

- She got her first two teeth (on the bottom…and BOY are they sharp!)

- The Easter Bunny came to visit (and Aubrey got a huge flower headband!) And even more exciting than that…she crawled for the first time on Easter!!!

- Aubrey started waving bye-bye

7 Months – Hey who turned out the lights???

This month was a memorable one…the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and blew down a WHOLE lot of trees and our power was knocked out for 6 days. (AKA we had a terrible wind storm!!!) You know what that meant? Sleepover at Nanny and GranDad’s house! While visiting Aubrey had the honor of trying on GranDad’s Minute Man hat…I think she wanted to keep it!

Aubrey is getting so close to crawling she’s been getting up on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth. It’s just a matter of time until she’s mobile! She’s really moving up in the world. And speaking of moving up in the world, AUbrey transitioned out of her baby tub into an inflatable insert in the big girl tub. She ADORES bath time, especially when it includes hanging out with her rubber ducky. She’s so happy and just lights up the room, no matter what she’s doing. 6 months – Half a year, a whole lot of fun!

Leave it to our little one to have a 1/2 year birthday party! One of Aubrey’s good friends Eli, hosted a 1/2 year party for herself, Aubrey and their little buddy Jack. The celebration was a wonderful brunch complete with a 1/2 birthday cake! Lots of fun was had by all :0)

And since we live in New England where snowy winters are guarenteed, it was the perfect month to take Aubrey on her first sled ride in her cool LL Bean sled that she got for Christmas from her Nanny and GranDad. Luckily for her, I was prepared and bought the most outrageous snowsuit I could find.

Other exciting moments this month:

-Aubrey watched her first Superbowl

-Aubrey started using a sippy cup (Great for washing down all the new types of solid food that she’s eating)

A few loyal followers of Aubrey’s blog have stopped to ask me, “What happened to her 6, 7 and 8 month posts?” Well fellow readers, the truth is…this Mommy business takes up a lot of my time…and I’ve slacked on keeping this updated! No excuses though; I started this blog so I could share the joy of watching Aubrey grow with each of you. So I return tonight with 3 all new blog posts (I know…you must be thanking your lucky stars right about now! LOL)

5 months old – Happy New Year Everyone!

2010 already! Hard to believe that this time last year, Larry and I were enjoying a quiet NYE at home dreaming about what our new little family would soon be like. At that point she was still our little secret, the best secret we’ve ever had to keep. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined we’d be lucky enough to be parents to such a sweet and adorable little girl. This NYE was a quiet one as well, spent with a couple who have a daughter Eli, who is two weeks older than Aubrey and is definitely one of her closest buddies. Good friends, some yummy home cooking, and two amazing little girls to join us this year…life just doesn’t get sweeter than that.

So little Miss Aubrey is 5 months now…and counting. This past month was an amazing one filled with lots of celebrations with our friends and family. Celebrating Christmas with a baby in your life is a gift in itself. It made me and Larry remember and appreciate all of our family traditions as well as start a few new ones of our own. We were very fortunate to be able to visit with lots of our family members, and certainly missed the ones we didn’t have the opportunity to see (especially Mom and Papa Shigo!)

This last month was also a big one because Aubrey has expanded her cullinary pallet. She had her first taste of cereal a few weeks ago and has been enjoying it ever since. We’ll soon introduce her to some yummy veggies and fruits.

I leave you with what I consider to be the highlight of my day…my baby girl’s giggles. Nothing beats her big bright smile and her sweet little belly laugh. Enough to make the worst of days good again! Enjoy the video here

4 months old…rockin’ and a rollin’!

December 8th marked Aubrey’s 4 month birthday. She has been very busy this past month, doing and seeing lots of new things. The most exciting by far is the fact that she’s rolling now. Last Friday she surprised me by rolling from her back to her belly, and I was lucky enough to catch it on video. Click here to see her first roll in action! Now she rolls all the time and much quicker so we need to watch her like a hawk :0)

Aubrey thoroughly enjoyed her first Thanksgiving at Grandma and Papa Shigo’s house in NY. She got to see her cousins, Aunts and Uncles too. We had a wonderful time and feel oh so thankful for our little turkey!

And in preparation for her first Christmas, we took her with us to chop down our Christmas tree. She was a trooper braving the chilly afternoon to help us find the perfect tree. It’s beautifully decorated and just waiting for Santa to come leave some gifts beneath it!!!

Happy three month birthday Miss Aubrey! And what an exciting last month you’ve had. October marked the last month of my maternity leave, which meant that Larry and I made the most of every minute. Here are some highlights with pictures to share:

Lauren was sweet enough to host a play date for all the newest Conley babies. It was great to see Katie & Joey, Kelley & James, and of course Bobby & Lauren.

A romantic getaway from my hubby to Bar Harbor, as a last hoorah before I went back to work. We stayed at the beautiful Bar Harbor Inn, complete with ocean view room. And to top it off I was treated to a lobster dinner and a massage at the spa. (I am married to such a wonderful man!) We ended the trip with a drive through Acadia National Park and made it all the way up the winding roads to the peak of Cadillac Mountain where we were rewarded with beautiful panoramic views.

A fun-filled Halloween here in NH, complete with trick-or-treating. A bunch of my family was staying over since Aubrey’s baptism was the next day, so all the adults got into the fun and decided to dress up too! The best part of it all was that we only had one ligit trick-or-treating kid to take around. All of the neighbors thought we were crazy!

Aubrey was baptized and has two wonderful godparents, my sister Carol and Larry’s brother Joe. The ceremony was so special and it was great to be able to celebrate with our families after the mass. Thank you to all of you for helping Aubrey celebrate her special day!

And finally….I went back to work this past Thursday after a 12 week maternity leave…which meant that Aubrey started daycare. It was a VERY difficult first day (not for Aubrey, but for Mommy!) but her teachers are wonderful and have but my fears at ease. And the bonus is that the daycare is located at Timberland so I can go down and visit her during the day. She seems to be enjoying the new sights and sounds. I was lucky to come back to a well managed work situation thanks to my wonderful team, especially my Associate Buyer Nancy. She was amazing while I was out! The picture below is Aubrey on her way to her first day at school.

Two thumbs up! (Or should I say in?)

Last night Aubrey hit a big baby milestone…she found her thumb! After a week of working at it, she was finally able to suck her thumb and not yank it out of her mouth. And as I look over at her as I type this, she is contently sucking the morning away. Small victory for the little cutie! Here’s a video of her accomplishment!

Well Little Miss Aubrey turned 2 months old yesterday. Is it just me, or is time flying by? Now I get why everyone tells you to enjoy and treasure every minute, because it truly does fly by. I have just about a month until I return to Timberland. It will be so hard to leave this sweet little girl every day, but thankfully she’ll be just a short walk through the building at a daycare center where I work.

This last month has been filled with lots of new adventures and activities. Aubrey has kept up her busy social schedule and has visited with lots of special people. She attended her second wedding, had lunch with her Aunties in Portland, visited her cousins, and attended an engagement party for her Uncle Joe and Auntie Val. And to top it off, this week she and I took a mini vacation with Daddy to North Conway to peep some folliage on Mount Washington.

She has also been busy with perfecting her tummy time, and getting her adorable smile bigger than ever. She’s cooing and starting to laugh…which is more fun than I could have ever imagined. Last night was the first time she slept in the crib in her room. It was life changing for me to get a good amount of sleep, now that she’s started waking up only once during the night. :0)

I’m looking forward to enjoying this month to the fullest, counting my lucky stars that I have this time off to spend with my sweet little girl. We’re especially looking forward to the end of the month when she’ll dress up for her first Halloween, and then she’ll celebrate her baptism too.

One month old!

OK so I’m just about a week late on this post (story of my life lately since everything takes just a WEE bit longer!) but I just had to share some fun things from the last few weeks.

September 8th was Aubrey’s 1 month birthday. Hard to believe that a month has already passed! She’s getting so big (mostly because she’s such a superstar eater!) and learning to do so many cool things. I’ll be taking a picture of Aubrey every 8th of the month, as she gets one month older in the same chair with the same teddy bear. That way we can see how much she’s changed each month. (Thanks for the great idea Sarah!)

Aubrey took her first major road trip last weekend to Long Island to visit her Grandparents. (And so that Larry and I could attend Josh and Danielle’s wedding) She did so great in the car which helped to make the weekend a success. It was so great to see my parents, and visit with friends. Below is a picture of Larry and I at the wedding (our first official date post baby…thanks Mom and Dad for babysitting!)

Last weekend at her Grandma and Papa’s house she flashed us her first smile…which was just the most adorable thing in the world. And thanks to Daddy’s dilengence with tummy time, she’s getting awesome at lifting her head. Here’s a peek of both in action!

She also had another photoshoot with Auntie. The pictures came out adorable…that Auntie has such a talent of capturing her sweet spirit.

We’re having a great time…taking Aubrey for lots of walks, trips and visits with family and friends. If we haven’t had the chance, we’d love to see you soon too!
